Government incomes rely on VAT of each transaction in housing sectors will come to minimal; empty shops in high street means revenue drops on Non-domestic rate& council Tax income of local government.
The prediction of China’s housing market slump is not easily be discerned.
However the property developers are the one to carry the burden on their over development in China, Chinese government and its people have no worry at all about the down ward adjustment of the housing prices.
After several years (say 5 years) you have paid back a friction of capitals and a lot of interest charge.
The property that you own has Equity of: down payment + a friction of capitals (on you repayment) + market value of your property gained after several years (if there is any).
In the other word if the market value of your property slump below purchase price + the friction of the capitals that you had paid, you are enter into Negative Equity.
If you have still got a job to keep up with your repayments, otherwise you are in difficult.
In Hong Kong and China you need 30% down payment with 70% borrowing to purchase the said property, if the downward adjustment leads to a slump, it will take 6 times (30 years) longer, besides Chinese parents will offer helping hands (Western culture is hardly understand) if their offspring is facing difficult. Single child of the family has the privilege.
